Facial Liposuction
Facial liposuction (suction lipectomy) is also used to improve the appearance of the neck and face. Even people who are not overweight may suffer from a double chin, saggy jowls or a very round face.
Fat deposits in these locations may be due to heredity or aging, and may be resistant to exercise and weight loss. Very small incisions are made in cosmetically-hidden areas of the face and jawline. A tube attached to a high pressure suction pump is inserted into the fat and moved back and forth to loosen excess fat and vacuum it away.
Afterwards, a compression dressing is placed to reduce swelling and allow the skin to heal smoothly and evenly. The small incision is heals very well and is generally difficult to see, without a little help.
Frequently, patients will elect to combine the benefits of chin enhancement and facial liposuction to give a better overall improvement in their facial appearance.
Cosmetic procedures can be done in the office or hospital, usually with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
The recovery period depends on the procedure performed and individual factors.

Case Study:
This 24 year old woman saw Dr. Reznick in consultation because she desired correction of her weak chin and lack of definition of her neck. A clinical examination showed that her dental occlusion was normal, and xrays revealed a normal jaw bone relationship.
She was treated with advancement of her chin by genioplasty. The bone of the chin was held forward with miniature plates and screws made of titanium. To improve her neck contours, liposuction was performed through three 1/4" incisions under her chin and jaw line.
