Laser Treatment of Facial Wrinkles

Sun exposure, squinting, and smiling all contribute to facial wrinkles. You may have noticed them around your eyes and mouth. You may have realized how they alter your appearance, making you look tired, sad, or older. Fine skin wrinkles are a fact of life. And now, so is treating them, right in our office, with the CO2 laser.

Physicians around the world are using the laser and a technique called "cosmetic skin resurfacing" to reduce wrinkles without scalpels or stitches. Instead, the doctor guides a laser beam over the wrinkled skin. This removes the outer layers, and the healing process results in a firmer, smoother appearance.

Patients are treated right in the office, under local anesthetic, or sedation, and may return to work immediately or within a few days. The treated area will be red for some time after treatment, and we will provide directions on how to care for the area as it heals. Follow-up visits after treatment allow us to monitor progress. A reduction in wrinkles is immediately noticeable.

This patient saw Dr. Reznick after having extensive dental work done to improve her smile. After that was done, she wanted to also improve her facial appearance by having the fine wrinkles removed with the laser. Notice the improved texture and appearance of her skin after the laser procedure.

Laser Removal of Facial Blemishes

Sun exposure, age, and heredity determine the amount of frecking and pigment spots on the face and neck. Sometimes, these spots detract from having a "youthful" appearance. Creams and lotions that bleach the skin are sometimes helpful, but they can take months for an effect , and the spots will return if you stop using them.

Using the CO2 laser, freckles, blemishes, and age spots can be "painted away" in just a few minutes in our office, under a local anesthetic. Most patients return the same day to work or school. Usually, an antibiotic ointment is used for the first week, after that, you return to your usual skin care routine. Our doctors may prescribe a special  facial care regimen to help preserve the benefits of the laser procedure.

This patient came to see Dr. Reznick because of the brown spot over her right eyebrow.

She grew tired of her friends always telling her that she had "dirt" over her eye.

She was treated with the laser in the office. The entire procedure took about 15 minutes. It completely healed in less about one week.

This 57 year old man came to the office for treatment of the sun-damaged appearance of his skin.

He had multiple dark age spots and fine wrinkles of the skin around his eyes.

Both problems were treated with the laser under intravenous sedation.
