Catherine Hayes, DMD, SM, DrMedSc joins Dr. Jay Reznick to discuss how to evaluate and utilize evidence-based studies in dental practice.
With the abundance of published literature, it is important for clinicians to critically evaluate the literature. This webinar will provide:
- an overview of the hierarchy of research evidence
- a method for evaluating the validity of individual studies
- how to discern if the results are generalizable to the patients you treat.
Catherine Hayes, D.M.D., S.M., Dr.Med.Sc. received her B.S. in Biology from Boston College and her D.M.D. from Tufts University, magna cum laude. She completed a General Practice Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and received both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Epidemiology from Harvard University where she also completed a Dental Public Health Residency.
Dr. Hayes is a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health and is a past president on the same board. She is a Past President of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry and has held leadership positions in national and international organizations. She has published numerous articles and book chapters in the field of dental public health and epidemiology.
Currently Dr. Hayes is Clinical Professor of Health Policy and Health Services Research at Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University, Lecturer at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Director of Dental Services in the Division of Commonwealth Medicine at the University of Massachusetts.
